The Daily Pulse:

The School Board (Heart)s the Supe

Notice went out Wednesday afternoon of a special called meeting of the Knox County school board, at 5 p.m. next Monday in the 1st Floor board room of the Andrew Johnson Building. The sole item on the agenda: approving the board's annual performance evaluation of Superintendent Jim McIntyre. If the timing seems a little odd, considering that the board already has a regularly scheduled meeting the next week, on Sept. 8, it's worth remembering that by then the five newly-elected board members will have taken their seats. The current board probably wishes to wrap up the evaluation before the newbies come in.

And if you're wondering what the current board thinks of the supe, you can read it right here, along with McIntyre's own mandatory self-evaluation. The bottom line is, the board thinks he's doing a swell job--it says he has "grown as a leader, externally and internally," which possibly verges on just a little too much information--and McIntyre is inclined to agree, even if he does say so himself.
