Cavo with Atom Smash, American Bang, and Shaman's Harvest
7 p.m., the Valarium. Free.
Cavo, a quartet from St. Lou, plays old-fashioned pre-grunge American hard rock. And not terribly, either.
 
10 p.m., Pilot Light. $6.
Two talented singer-songwriters with fairly different bents: one ethereal, the other pop.

The carnies and sideshow acts may be few and far between, but the midway still hums.
