Knoxville native and longtime local drama mainstay Dale Dickey got great notices this year for her scary supporting role in the austere Ozark meth drama Winter's Bone. "I think you could watch this remarkable performance a hundred times and never get to the bottom of it," David Edelstein wrote in New York magazine. Now, as award season heats up, she's reaping the benefits. She and all of her co-stars were named Best Ensemble on Monday night at the Gotham Independent Film Awards, and today she can add to that a Best Supporting Actress nomination in the Independent Spirit Awards, which are sort of the indie Oscars. Both of which mean that the 49-year-old performer's name is sure to remain in circulation for the nomination lists yet to come. (The movie racked up seven Independent Spirit nods in all, leading all competitors.)
