The Daily Pulse:

Robinella and the CC String Band Reunite at the Square Room on Thursday, Dec. 2

Newgrass pioneer and sometime-Doobie Brothers bassist John Cowan announced last week that he's canceling the remaining dates of his 2010 tour, which included a show on Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Square Room. The Square Room has more than made up for the last-minute announcement, though; the club is filling the slot with (drum roll) Robinella and the CC Stringband, who will be performing together for the first time in more than five years.

The jazzy acoustic combo formed in the late 1990s and released four albums together, including a self-titled disc on Columbia Records in 2003. They broke up in 2005 after Robinella and Cruz Contreras divorced; she's continued on as a solo performer, and Contreras, after a couple of years away from music, formed the Black Lillies in 2008.

The original lineup--Robinella, Cruz Contreras, Taylor Coker, and Billy Contreras--will play old CC songs and some holiday standards. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7:30; tickets are steep--$52-$68--but include a four-course dinner.
