The Daily Pulse:

2nd Annual Strollstice, 12/21

The 2nd annual Strollstice has been set for Tuesday evening, Dec. 21. As in the first event, last year, participants will gather for a lighting of candles and then walk about 10 blocks through downtown, singing carols. This year's Strollstice has special significance, because it is dedicated to the memory of Robert Loest, who organized the first one and wanted it to become an annual downtown fixture. Loest, an energetic, enthusiastic polymath who was himself a downtown fixture, died earlier this year. (Here is Jack Neely's appreciation of him.) His wife, Judy, will help lead this year's walk.

The Strollstice is open to anyone. It will begin at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, at the south end of Market Square, near the bell, and then proceed along Gay Street and part of State Street.
