The Daily Pulse:

New Music From Ampient

If you have a couple of hours to spare today, you can listen to some pretty high-quality recordings from the local drone collective Ampient's Wednesday night show at Old City Java. (Even if you don't have a couple of hours to spare, you can still listen while you work or cook or read or whatever.)

The first set, by Toby Applegate and long-ago MP sales rep Brett Winston is 56 minutes of slow-building electronic hum with some video-game flourishes near the end; Jason Bowman and Jesse Wagner's second set is a little darker, with hints of industrial music--sort of like a horror movie score.

Ampient musicians play together on the first Wednesday of every month at Old City Java. Check out ampientmusic.com for more info.
