It is with great pride (and fear -- of possibly losing a busy contributor) that we announce that MP movie and comics reviewer April Snellings has been named editor of a new national magazine, FM Undergound.
For any aficionado of horror or science fiction, Famous Monsters of Filmland is a touchstone of fandom, a magazine launched over 50 years ago by Forrest J. Ackerman and recently relaunched. Now, the classic brand is venturing into more edgy realms with FM Undergound, which will be a bi-monthly (launching May) covering a wider gamut of horrific pop culture.
"This new magazine will feature a more 'in-your-face' approach to horror" says Famous Monsters publisher Philip Kim in a press release. "FM Underground will bring all the best artwork and writing that readers have come to expect from Famous Monsters and take them beyond filmland for a visceral experience with a razor's edge tone, and a so-close-you-might-get-smacked look at horror, comics, music, video games, and more."
And April is the perfect choice for editor -- a super-fan of classic and cutting-edge horror, writer for genre publications like Rue Morgue and Fangoria, and someone who knows what she likes. Plus, she's keeping the Knoxville economy humming by making assignments to some local writers along with illustrator extraordinaire, Marcus Parcus.
