Knoxville's Royal Bangs are getting their first full-fledged national distribution in March, when their third official album, Flux Outside, is released on Glassnote Records.
The band's first real album (after some rough home recordings) was We Breed Champions, self-released in 2006 and re-released in 2008 by Audio Eagle, a small label owned by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. Let It Beep, from 2009, was also released on Audio Eagle. The band signed with Glassnote, a new label run by former EMI/Universal exec Daniel Glass, back in September. The label also includes Mumford and Sons and Phoenix, among others.
Flux Outside was recorded at Scott Minor's Knoxville studio in the fall and was mixed by heavyweight producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Weezer, Sleater-Kinney, MGMT). The album will be released on March 29. The band starts a two-week national tour in Texas this weekend, and they're scheduled to play at SXSW in Austin, Texas, in March.
