The Daily Pulse:

S&W Grand Closes

The owners of S&W Grand, the restaurant and bar that opened in April 2009 in the renovated S&W building on the 400 block of South Gay Street, announced Saturday on their Facebook page that they are closing--at least for now. "We are taking the opportunity during this slow time of the year to determine the future plan for the S&W Grand in 2011," the post says. "Effective immediately, we will be closed until further notice. We thank everyone for their support over the past year, and remain hopeful to serve you again in the near future."

In addition to lunch, dinner, and late-night drinks, the S&W Grand has offered regular jazz shows, including a long-running Saturday night residency by Donald Brown. But just last week, it announced that it would no longer be open for lunch. At the time, a "new menu" was also promised as being in the works.

The building that houses the restaurant was initially threatened with demolition as part of the Regal Riviera movie theater development.
