The Daily Pulse:

Stacey Hearts Metro Pulse!

So a couple of days ago, I blogged about a special Valentine's Day offer that the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition is running. Basically if you donate money to them, they'll send your favorite state legislator a special valentine, something along the lines of "Roses are red, violets are blue, immigrant families pay taxes too." I suggested it would be funny if our own Senator Stacey Campfield were to walk into his office on Monday and find on his desk a teddy bear wearing a t-shirt that says, "I have a heart for immigrants and refugees."

Well, apparently Stacey's been reading our blog! Last night he posted a response on his own blog, entitled, "Bring It!"

The Metro Pulse advocates sending me gifts on Valentines day. While I think there is a legal value limit per person (I think $25.00 if you are a registered lobbyist) I say go for it. As most people know, I support LEGAL immigrants and refugees. If they want to send me gifts that is fine with me. If any show up I will check with legal and if necessary, donate to a good local charity.

I will inform my readers of the actual results from advertising in the Metro pulse after Valentines day.

In response to his response, TIRRC is promoting Stacey's call to action, offering to send him all four valentine designs for just $5:

(And for our friend who wants us to bring it, just type "the bring it special" in the senator/representative space to send him all four card designs for the price of one.)

Although we think sending Stacey a valentine would be even more hilarious now than ever, we are bound by journalistic ethics that prevent us from donating to any political or advocacy group. But that doesn't mean we don't want to wish Stacey a happy Valentine's Day! In fact, Managing Editor Jesse Fox Mayshark - the guy who wrote our fabulous cover story on Stacey last fall - has dared me to go on a date with the single senator - a challenge that I am more than willing to accept.

So, Stacey, we know you're reading this. How about it? Dinner, maybe even a movie? I promise I won't mention Planned Parenthood once! Just give me a call ...
