WBIR is reporting that there will be a news conference Wednesday afternoon to announce changes in the Ten-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness. The report says that the departure of embattled TYP director Jon Lawler is expected.
Changes would hardly be a surprise. At a Knoxville mayoral candidates' forum Monday night, Ivan Harmon and Mark Padgett both sounded skeptical about the Plan as a whole, and Marilyn Roddy and Madeline Rogero called for a step back to bring in more community involvement. Lawler has been criticized even by many supporters of the TYP for doing a poor job of building public support for the Plan, and in particular its "permanent supportive housing" component, which would place chronically homeless people in apartments scattered through city neighborhoods.
UPDATE: County Mayor Tim Burchett has confirmed this, according to the KNS. But really guys, y'all can't share the meeting time? [CWG]
