The Daily Pulse:

Victor Griffin and Pentagram's New Album Has Awesome Grim Reaper Cover

Woefully undersung Knoxville doom metal guitar hero Victor Griffin had a busy 2010, with his long-running band Place of Skulls releasing its fourth album in the fall and his unexpected reunion with Bobby Liebling in the semi-legendary underground band Pentagram. (You can read about it in this Metro Pulse profile from October.)

Now Griffin and Liebling are set to release their first album together since 1994. Pentagram's Last Rites, recorded in Knoxville in November and featuring the totally awesome cover art above, is due out on Metal Blade (also home to Knoxville metalcore champs Whitechapel) on April 12. Pentagram's also playing SXSW in Austin, Texas, with Eyehategod, Naam, Cough, Ancient VVIsdom, and Primitive Weapons on Saturday, March 19. (That's the same day that Knoxville's Royal Bangs are scheduled to play their SXSW show, and a day after Whitechapel's SXSW performance.)
