Just a week after winning Best Americana Band in Metro Pulse's annual reader's poll, the Black Lillies announce another (arguably more significant) honor: The band is scheduled to play at the all-time legendary Grand Ole Opry on Friday, June 17. That night's show features former American Idolist Kellie Pickler as headliner.
If the Opry show is a big breakthrough for the Lillies, you still have one more chance to see them before they're superstars. The band plays at the Bijou Theatre with Tift Merritt on Saturday, May 28.
The Lillies are also quietly moving their way up the Americana Music Association's radio chart. Thie second album, 100 Miles of Wreckage, landed at No. 11 this week, right behind Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers' Rare Bird Alert. (Martin and the Rangers are playing at the Tennessee Theatre on Tuesday, May 24.)
