The Daily Pulse:

A Return to Transparency?

We have to say, when we started asking candidates last week if they were willing disclose their tax returns, we didn't think it would, you know, turn into a thing. Just that some candidates would do it and others wouldn't. But now they're sending out their tax documents with press releases! Hooray for an open and transparent government!

MARSHALL STAIR RELEASES TAX RETURN
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Marshall Stair, Knoxville city council candidate, today released his tax returns for 2010.  The return reflects an income in 2010 of $82,111.00 and payment of combined federal, state, county, and city taxes of $16,352.00 or roughly 20 percent of his income.

"I think it is important that Knoxville voters have to opportunity to review the tax returns of their elected officials.  This is an important part of transparency.  If elected to council, I will annually release my tax returns for public inspection," he added.
