We've just started leafing through the latest round of campaign finance reports from city candidates, which are due today, but one gossipy little item jumps out from Madeline Rogero's July totals: She got $1,400 from Susan B. Haslam, aka Dee Haslam, aka the CEO of RIVR Media who also happens to be married to Pilot CEO and gubernatorial brother Jimmy Haslam. Jimmy, you'll recall, made some local headlines a month ago with his public support of mayoral candidate Mark Padgett. Rogero, of course, ran against Jimmy's brother Bill back in 2003, and then ended up working in his administration for several years.
There was some speculation back at the beginning of the year that the Haslams might just sit this campaign out entirely. Instead, they're jumping in on all sides. (Well, all sides except the only actual Republican in the race, Ivan Harmon.)
