Indianapolis Colts QB/ex-Vol Peyton Manning is 35 years old; he missed the entire 2011 season following three neck surgeries; his coach and GM have been fired after a 2-14 season; the Colts owe him a $28 million bonus in March; and the team is set to draft Andrew Luck--the most-hyped prototype QB since Peyton Manning--with the first pick in the NFL draft. And yesterday the scuttlebutt that Manning would play somewhere besides Indianapolis next year spiked into speculation that he's not switching teams--he's retiring.
So far the evidence is a tweet from Rob Lowe.
Here's the Knox Blab thread on the rumors.
There is also this interview with Colts center Jeff Saturday, who has handled almost every snap to Manning since 2000. Saturday isn't sure what his future is with the restructured team, and Manning's fate may be closely related to Saturday's.
