The Daily Pulse:

Knoxville, We Have a Paleteria! Yum!

What's a paleteria, you ask? Well, it's basically a Spanish word for an awesome popsicle shop. Think fresh fruits, frozen, and delicious combinations of flavors. Think exactly what you need on a hot day like this.

Jason Mitchell is the man behind PopCulture, and he has been selling his wares for two weeks now at the Market Square Farmer's Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays - he's also been at Ijams on the weekends the past two months. The cart business isn't going anywhere, but within just a few weeks, Mitchell plans to open a brick-and-mortar store on the corner of Main and Locust in the Medical Arts Building, a space that's long been ripe for retail. Mitchell says his store will have more flavors than the six or so available in the cart:

The store is set to open July 1, give or take a few days, depending on permits, et al. We haven't yet tasted a PopCulture paleta yet, but our sources confirm they are tasty indeed. We can't wait!
