The Daily Pulse:

Bring LCD Soundsystem to Knoxville!

LCD Soundsystem was one of my favorite bands of the last decade. Was there better music to enter your 30s to -- dance music about growing up and getting old? And then, when they seemingly were on top of everything, last year they walked away. (Well, lead singer James Murphy walked away -- you get the feeling from this article in today's New York Times that some of the other band members wouldn't have minded staying together.)

When the band called it quits, it played a set of final shows in New York, the last of which was filmed and is now a movie, Shut Up and Play the Hits. The movie premieres all around the country for one day only, July 18, but as of yet, it's not coming here. It will be playing in Chattanooga, and it will be playing in Asheville, but it won't be playing here. That is, unless you help.

The movie is playing in select cities that have voted to host it via the magic of the Internet. So far, only 26 people in Knoxville have voted. I know more than 26 people in Knoxville like LCD Soundsystem. I know more than 26 people in Knoxville would really like to see this movie on the big screen -- concert movies are always better on the big screen. So won't you go add your vote to the list? It takes about two seconds. Oh, and get all your friends to do the same.
