Comedienne/Writer/Blogger/Twitter user Julie Klausner recently decided she wanted to pet the mascot of Bush's Beans--the red-hued golden retriever Duke. So she tweeted the Knoxville-based company with her humble request. After a social media campaign (you can find the full run-down of Klausner's efforts here), Bush's Beans turned down her request, saying they get several like hers and it wouldn't be fair to let one person pet Duke, but not the others.
Klausner still has no idea why they wouldn't let her pet the dog, even after a highly positive campaign to do so. She even offered to fly to Knoxville on her own dime.
Repeated calls to Bush's Beans went unreturned, but stay tuned.
