The Daily Pulse:

The Daily Plan-It: Belly Dancing 101!

Good morning, kiddies! Remember Shakira's hit "Hips Don't Lie"? Do yours? We can fix that with a little belly dancing 101. But first...

At noon in the East Tennessee History Center, Stephanie Welch of the Knox County Health Department will be on hand to discuss Jason Corburn's book Toward the Healthy City: People, Places and Politics of Urban Planning as part of the Knox County Library's Brown Bag Green Book program that addresses environmental issues. So, environmentalists/book nerds, pack your lunch and take it with you!

Feeling civic? The Downtown Design Review Board is meeting at 4 p.m. in the small assembly room of the City County Building. They suggest projects and initiatives that benefit and beautify downtown, so if you have an interest, it's a good meeting to get to.

Help kick off another Knoxville Fashion week at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse at 5 p.m. (did you read last week's cover story about the scruffy fashionistas?) Tickets to the event start at $45 and go up to $250.

Fashion not up your alley? How about belly dancing? Latitude 35 on Market Square is hosting a belly dancing for beginners class at 6:15. For $12, maybe you can learn how to make your belly and hips move like Shakira's! No? Maybe? For more info, call (865)-898-6775 or email alexia@alexia-dance.com

Bistro at the Bijou is hosting some live jazz at 7 p.m. While you eat, listen to the Andrew McCoy Duo. Hey, no cover charge or age limits here, my friends.
