KAT Route 102X (The Farragut Express!) will be free to riders every Tuesday in October and November. Also, there will be free donuts available for passengers leaving Farragut on the 6:45, 7:15, and 7:45 buses. Smart Trips will also be there handing out prizes on the fare-free Tuesday mornings. (The 7:45 departure starts on Oct. 1) The Farragut Express runs during peak hours--in the mornings and evenings when people are going to and from work.
A group has started a Facebook page to encourage ridership of the Farragut Express--don't try to search for it on Facebook. Here's the link: Farragut Express. The page has articles on what to do on the bus ride, solar-powered bus stops on the UT campus, and new stores downtown.
KAT General Manager Cindy McGinnis said in a press release that with all the support available to new riders from Farragut, "now is a great time to try transit from Farragut to UT and downtown. Taking the bus a few days a week can make a noticeable difference in fuel costs and provides a stress-free commute."
For more information on routes (and cute/kinda funny videos about how to use the bus), check out the KAT website.
