Guys, we made it! Just eight-ish hours until it's officially the weekend! Woohoo! Here's a run-down on what's going on around town.
Friday
At 10 a.m., head over to the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture to check out Alec Merchant's exhibit "Looking at the Dark." A series of videos and interviews with people in India about the caste of "untouchables" will be featured. It's free, so head over there for some culture!
The Tennessee Valley Fair starts today at 3 p.m. at Chilhowee Park. Tickets to the musical acts range in price from $5-$30 and can be purchased here.
Starting at 6 p.m. you can head over to the 2 Many Pixels gallery to check out Jimmy Chiarella's wildlife photography exhibit. Looks cool, kids! And it's free!
Also starting tonight at dusk is Movies on Market Square with Footloose (the original!). If you want to get there a bit early at 6:30, there will be some pet safety tips presented.
At 7:45, Alysia Wood from NBC's The Last Comic Standing will take the stage at Sidesplitters Comedy Club. Tickets to see this funny lady cost $8-$14. Buy them here. For the 18+ crowd only.
The Sons and Have Gun Will Travel will take the stage at the Well at 9 p.m. Cover is $5. For the 21+ crowd only.
Saturday
Get up early with your kids (9 a.m.) and head over to the Ijams Nature Center to learn about the general rules and ethics of urban foraging from Katie Reis. The class is $8. For more info, call (865)-235-1730 or email Reis at katie@urbanlandscouts.com.

Tom Jester will be at Union Avenue Books at 2 p.m. to talk about his book Popcorn Sutton. Everyone is welcome, and it's free!
Ray Wylie Hubbard will be playing at the Shed (in Maryville) at 8 p.m. Tickets to see the Texan troubadour are $20 and can be purchased here.
Sunday
The East Tennessee Wanderers Volkwalking Club will meet at 2 p.m. at Foothills Elementary School (in Maryville). They'll be taking an approximately four-mile walk. More info is available at the club's website.
The Smoky Mountain Blues Society will also meet at 2 for a cruise on the river aboard the Star of Knoxville. Tickets are $13-$18 and can be purchased when you get there.
The Vegetarian Society of East Tennessee will meet at 6 p.m. at the Tennessee Vally Unitarian Universalist Church for a potluck dinner. Visit the group's website or call (865)-546-5643 for more info.
