The Daily Pulse:

The Daily Plan-It: Fall Crafts, State Street Garage Meeting, and Three Cool Bands

Good morning, kids! Hope you put on your big girl/boy pants today, 'cause it's turning out to be a busy one. Are you ready? You sure? Positive? Take that espresso shot first. Ok, here's what's going on today.

At 10 a.m., head out to the Fall Porch Sale at the Appalachian Arts Craft Center on Anderson Highway in Norris. They'll have outdated stock, and student/unjuried arts and crafts for sale. If you're into a well-decorated home, might be worth a drive out to see what you find.

Don't forget--at 3 p.m., Band of Horses are going to be at Disc Exchange for a little pre-concert acoustic performance. Also, they want you to buy their new CD or something. Free beer is reportedly involved. Check out Disc Exchange's Facebook page for more info.

At 5 p.m., head over to the East Tennessee History Center on Gay St. for a public meeting about the State St. garage expansion. A meeting agenda hasn't been posted on the city's website.

Do you dig twilight walks? Do you also dig the utterly cool Meade's Quarry at Ijams? Head over to the nature centure at 6:30 for a lantern walk through Meade's and Ross Marble Natural area lead by an Ijams naturalist. You must register for the walk (which costs $7-$10) by calling (865) 577-4717 ext. 110 or emailing sabrina@ijams.org.

The Slow Food Knoxville Pie Contest will be at Redeemer Church at 7 p.m. It's $7 to get in (free for contestants) and will go to benefit Food in the Fort, a local nonprofit. If you're into pie...why wouldn't you show up?

And now...the first of the three bands. Lucero will play at the Bijou Theatre with Larry and His Flask at 8 p.m. Tickets are $21.50-$24.50. Buy them here.

Also at 8, the Melvins Lite will play at the Square Room with Tweak Bird. Tickets are $18. Buy them here.

Finally, the third band playing at 8 p.m. is Band of Horses, who will play at the Tennessee Theatre. Tickets are $30. Buy them here.

At 9 p.m., Nick Harris will host Open Jam Night at the Crown and Goose. That show is free and open to everyone 18+. Don't get too crazy, now. There's still one more day of work this week.
