Good morning kiddies! We made it! It's Friday! Just get through the rest of today, and we're all FREE!! (Is that George Michael singing?) FRIDAY
At 9 a.m., why not take the family to the Ijams Nature Center's family day camp? It's $15-$20 to attend. For more info, call (865) 577-4717 ext. 110.
Speaking at this week's UT Science Forum in Thompson-Boling Arena is Dana Dodd of Appalachian Bear Rescue. Dodd's topic of discussion will be "Saving Orphan Bears and Returning Them to the Wild." Get an early start on Halloween at 5:30 by going to the Trick or Treat event at Cherokee Caverns. It's $7 to get in and enjoy the family friendly environment. Check out the website for more info.
At 10 p.m., We Are the Walrus (a Beatles cover band), will play at the Preservation Pub at 10 p.m. Cover's $5. 21+ only.
SATURDAY
The Rhama Center for the Healing Arts will be holding a Whole Food Workshop on how to reduce the amount of meat you cook each week at 10 a.m. For more info, call (865) 599-3187 or email afternoonwellness@gmail.com.
Boo at the Zoo starts at 5:30. It's $6 to get in and go hang out (in costume) with the animals. For more info, visit the zoo's website.
Blues/Soul/Zydeco band Voodoo Bone (awesome name, by the way) will be playing at Baker Peters Fine Dining and Lounge (aka the haunted Baker Peters House!) at 8 p.m. Not to be missed during the Halloween season! (21+ only)
Miss Tess and the Talkbacks will play at Boyd's Jig and Reel at 9 p.m. The show's open to the 18+ crowd and there's no cover. Thomas Bryan Eaton and Hobson's Choice will also be playing.
Is there any other way to get into the Halloween Spirit than seeing the Rocky Horror Picture Show? No. There is not. So get ready, 'cause it's playing at the Tennessee Theatre at 10 p.m. Tickets are $7-$9. Buy them now here.
SUNDAY
The 7th Annual East Tennessee Chili Cook Off will take over World's Fair Park and open to the public at noon. Tickets are $10 at the gate (kids under 12 are free). Check out the website for more info!
Mutemath will give a free show at Disc Exchange at 2 p.m. ahead of their concert later in the evening. Did we mention it's free?
At 8 p.m., Swingbooty, the gypsy swing band, will play at Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria. The show's free and open to the 21+ crowd.
At 9, the Swans and A Hawk and a Hacksaw will play at Valarium. TIckets are $15-$20. Buy them here.
