The Daily Plan-It: Nature for Tots, Some Fundraising, and the Sara Jordan Blues Bash

Good morning! Did everyone make it through the fog this morning? Hopefully yes, if you're reading. Today's looking busy, as most Thursdays tend to be--we're so close to the weekend! Hang in there! And take a look a what's going on today.

The Frank H. McClung Museum opens at 9 a.m., and the "Zen Buddhism and Arts of Japan" exhibit is still on display. It's free to go check it out!

Are you at home with your 2-to-3-year-old(s)? If you'd like to get out and enjoy the fall weather, Ijams Nature Center is holding a nature science introduction class for kiddos that age. It's $5-$15 to attend the class. Call (865) 577-4717 ext. 110 for more info. Great excuse to get outside!

At noon, grab your lunch and head to the visitor center to watch the Mumbles perform for WDVX's Blue Plate Special. Ted Yoder will also perform. It's free to go eat your lunch and listen! 

The Knoxville/Knox County chapter of the League of Women Voters is decompressing during happy hour starting at 3 p.m. at Central Flats and Taps. It's free to attend the fundraiser.

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts is having its Souper Bowl IX benefit dinner tonight at 5, which will feature ceramic bowls made by Arrowmont-associated artists. If you're in Gatlinburg, why not head over for a nice bowl of soup? It's $30 to attend. Call (865) 436-5860 for more info.

Tonight at 6 p.m., the Sara Jordan Blues Bash starts at the Well in celebration of her birthday (Nov. 15, 1955). Get there if you were a fan of this local's unique voice. $8-$10 to get in; for the 21+ crowd.

At 7 p.m. in the Square Room, Missy Raines and the New Hip will perform with Kevin Abernathy, Seryn, and the Ragbirds. Tickets are $15-$20. Buy them here. The show will be broadcast on WDVX.

Gary Valentine, who's been on the King of Queens TV show, as well as on HBO, NBC, and Comedy Central, will be performing at Sidesplitter's Comedy Club at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14-$18. Buy them here. 18+ only.

Are you a fan of the West Virginia nine-piece band Qiet? Lucky you! They're playing at 9 p.m. at Hott Rods with Andrew Benjamin and Seratonin. It's $5-$7 to get in. 18+ only.

1990's dance music icon DJ Icey will be performing at the Cider House tonight at 9 with Space Twins, Oreo, and Jason Paul. Tickets are $8-$12. Buy them here. 18+ only.
