The Daily Pulse:

The Daily Plan-It: Candle Making, An Irish Christmas, and Rev. Horton Heat

Good morning, friends! And happy hump day! Since it's so close to Christmas and I'm in a generous mood, feel free to let your minds sink to the gutter. Anyway--here's what's going on today. Stay on the nice list or Santa will only leave you coal.

The Arts and Culture Alliance 2012 members' show will be on display until Friday at the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture. The work featured has all been created within the last couple years by local artists who use several different mediums. Get there and check it out! The Emporium Center opens at 9 a.m.

Hey, you crafty types. If you have some free time around 11 a.m., head out to the Marble Springs Historic Site to learn how to make candles. For $5, visitors can learn how to make beeswax candles at an open hearth just like they did in the 18th and 19th centuries.

If your lunch break isn't quite long enough for candle making, check out Parker Smith, who'll be performing at noon at the visitor center for WDVX's Blue Plate Special. It's free entertainment, and you just might find you new favorite local artist.

At 7 p.m., "Joy: An Irish Christmas" will be presented by Irish singer/songwriters Keith and Kristyn Getty at the Tennessee Theatre. It'll be a folksy take on traditional Christmas music. Tickets are $25-$55. Buy them here

At 8 p.m., Reverend Horton Heat with Quartjar will play at the Square Room. Rockabilly fans, don't miss this psychobilly/hellbilly/cow-punk dude.Tickets are $18-$20. Buy them here.

If, after all that, you're still out and about, check out the Whiskey Sessions at the Well at 9 p.m. with J.C. and the Dirty Smokers and Parker Smith. Cover's $5. 21+ only.
