Hey, all you crazy kids! Some of you are working today, and some of you have the day off. Either way, today's activities have a theme: Martin Luther King, Jr. Take a look at some of the ways his life is being celebrated around town today.
If you're not going to be downtown to watch the MLK Day parade, Roy W. King, an African American Studies professor at the State University of New York, will be on hand at Maryville College at 10:30 to talk about the "changing face of discrimination."
This evening at 6, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will be playing a free Martin Luther King Concert at the Tennessee Theatre. Featured performers include the KSO Chamber Orchestra, Carpetbag Theatre, the MLK Holiday Celebration Choir, the MLK Holiday Children's Choir, the Knoxville Opera Gospel Choir, and poet Jessica Sessions.
Tonight at 9, relax and have a laugh at Comedy Con Queso night at the Well. If you open a tab, you get free cheese. Cover's free! 21+ only.
The Heartless Bastards will play at the Pilot Light tonight at 10 p.m. with My Jerusalem. Tickets are $16. Buy them here.
