Good morning! Everyone have their floaties ready to use? Be careful out there! But in the meantime, here's how you can keep from getting bored on this rainy day.
This morning at 10, the Blount County Public Library will hold a Tales of Wonder story time, which includes puppets and coloring in addition to stories. Then, if you have some kiddos stuck at home today, take them to the library at 4 p.m. for crafts suitable for kids in grades K-6. Both activities are free!
At noon, float on down to the visitor center with your lunch bag to listen to Poor Old Shine, who will play for WDVX's Blue Plate Special. More free entertainment!
Tonight at 6, the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture is hosting a beginner's Capoeira class--that's Brazilian martial arts. The first class you take is free, and $12/class after that. For more info, check out Capoeira Fundo da Mata's website.
At 8, stick around after dinner at Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria to catch John Wesley Satterfield, who will perform with Mac Leaphart.
Then at 10, New York's Jon Spencer Blues Explosion will take the stage at the Pilot Light. Tickets are $15-$20. You can buy them in advance here. 18+ only.
