The Daily Pulse:

Botanical Garden Welcome Center

Some of us know Knoxville Botanical Garden as an exceptionally cool amenity, tucked away and never seen by most Knoxvillians. This news may help:

The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum Receives $500,000 in State Budget for New Welcome Center.

Knoxville, Tenn. -- Supported by a $500,000 Capital Appropriation from the State of Tennessee, The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum is preparing to transform the 47-acre site into a premier regional attraction. The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum (KBGA) recently completed a master plan that strategically rehabilitates its historic structures to support its educational mission and to improve its visitor services. As a historically significant cultural resource in East Tennessee, KBGA sets an example for historic preservation and environmental stewardship. This master plan highlights design opportunities for KBGA to continue to grow in an attainable and responsible manner.

The first phase of capital improvements is a 5,500 square foot Welcome Center at the location of a historic building constructed by Joe Howell. This multi-purpose building combines first class visitor services with state of the art education and event spaces. The project will also include improvements to the original entrance into the property and addition of accessible parking and walkways.
