Knoxville's still a long way from catching up to Asheville, but it will have one more brewery as of later this summer -- Fanatic Brewing, which has just started renovating a building on N. Central Ave, just north of Happy Holler.
Owner Josh Martin isn't ready to go public with all the details just yet, but he says the brewery plans to start with a blonde ale, a pale ale, and brown ale, and, excitingly, a cider made from locally grown apples. Unlike Saw Works Brewing, Fanatic will be focused first on canning its own beer and getting it out to the market -- a tasting room may or may not come later in a couple of years, Martin says.
In the meantime, Fanatic is hiring a head brewer, so if you think you have the qualifications, you might want to get in touch quickly. Martin says he hopes the beer will hit the market by August, but he also notes that starting up a company is full of all sorts of delays, so we may have to wait a little bit longer to toast the next local brew on the market.
