The Weekend Plan-It: Secret City Festival, PrideFest, and KARM Dragon Boat Festival

Good morning! It's Friday! We made it! Here are some ways you can enjoy the weekend.

FRIDAY
At 11 a.m., the Secret City Festival kicks off at Bissell Park and goes through Saturday night. The Dirty Guv'nahs will perform tonight at 7 at the UCOR Concert Stage. Saturday night's headliner is Rick Springfield (of "Jessie's Girl" fame). (He was also on ER for a while.) Tickets are $17-$20. 

At noon in the visitor center, Jim Avett will play for WDVX's Blue Plate Special with the Green Boys. As always, it's free to attend.

Want to take in some visual art AND music at the same time? The Carib Sounds Steel Band will perform at the Knoxville Museum of Art at 6 p.m. It's $10 to attend.

The Sandman, known as the the David Copperfield of hypnotism, will be at Sidesplitters Comedy Club tonight at 7:45. Tickets are $8-$12. Buy them here. 18+ only.

Check out the Coveralls tonight at 10, when they'll play at the Preservation Pub. They might play your favorite song! Cover's $5. 21+ only.

SATURDAY
Boat lovers! Wake up early and head to Concord Park at 8 a.m. for the KARM Dragon Boat Festival. Dragon boats are powered by 20 rowers of all ages and physiques, and they've all pledged to raise money for the Knox Area Rescue Ministries. Go cheer them on!

Thinking of getting a dog? Have you decided on a border collie? What perfect timing! The East Tennessee Border Collie Rescue will be at Agri Feed Pet Supply at 10:30. Go check out some doggies who need loving homes! For more info, call (865) 584-3959.

PrideFest 2013 starts in World's Fair Park at 1 p.m. Show your support for Knoxville's LGBT community and join them for what promises to be a fun afternoon downtown.

NV Nightclub will welcome Queens metal band Emmure at 6 p.m., along with Born of Osiris, Defiler, A Body Divided, and Encounters. Tickets to the show are $13-$15. Buy them here.

Scott Miller and the Commonwealth will play at the Shed in Maryville at 8 p.m. with RB Morris. Tickets are $20. Buy them here.

Longtime singer-songwriter Jonathan Richman will play at the Pilot Light at 9:30. Tickets are $12. 18+ only.

SUNDAY
Take it easy on Sunday and mosey on over to the Tennessee Theatre after brunch to watch the classic flick Jaws as part of the theater's summer movie magic series.Tickets are $8. Buy them here.

But maybe you want to actually do something. Check out Circle Modern Dance's improvisational dance class at 3:30 in the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture. Everyone's welcome and no experience is necessary! The first class you take there is free, and $5 for every subsequent class. 

If you want to spend the evening out, get your giggle on (sorry) at the Preservation Pub's Upstairs Underground Stand-Up Comedy Show at 8 p.m. No cover! 21+ only.
