The Weekend Plan-It: Octopus Jones, Jason Isbell, and the Furry Friends Fest

Good morning! Woo! We're soo close to the weekend! Here's what's going on.

FRIDAY
Grab the kids and take them to the Blount County Public LIbrary for Tales of Wonder story hour at 10 a.m. Puppets, coloring, and crafts are also involved. Aimed at kiddos ages 3-5. It's free to attend!

The Southern Women Expo kicks off at noon at the Knoxville Expo Center. Go shop and enjoy the live entertainment during the two-day event. Check out the website for more info.

After dinner, mosey over to Market Square for a 7 p.m. performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night by the Tennessee Stage Company. The play is part of the annual Shakespeare on the Square series, and it's absolutely free to attend.

At 8 p.m., Raleigh, N.C., indie pop outfit Octopus Jones will play at the Preservation Pub with the Kernal. The show's free! 21+ only.

The Well will host Salome Cabaret Burlesque Theater at 10 p.m. No cover! 21+ only.

SATURDAY
Wake up early and get coffee and breakfast (along with some groceries) at the Market Square Farmers Market, which gets started at 9 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m.

Agri Feed Pet Supply will have two breed rescues come to show off their pup who need new homes. The Greyhound Pets of America Rescue will be on hand at noon, and the Belly Rubs Basset Hound Rescue will be there at 2:30 p.m. Who know? You could find your new best friend.

At 7 p.m., the Well will welcome to the stage Pegasi 51, Hey OK Fantastic, Quartjar, Steel Eagle, and the Swingin' Tire Drinkin' Choir to benefit the Hard Knox Roller Girls. There's NO cover! 21+ only.

Former Drive-By Truckers guitarist Jason Isbell will make a stop at the Shed in Maryville at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20. Buy them here.

At 10 p.m., the Blackstock Auditorium will host music, dance, and circus entertainment act Carnivalesque. It's $5 to attend! 18+ only.

SUNDAY
At noon, the Pilot Light Record Show and Sale starts. Spend the afternoon digging through some old and new vinyl records. It's free to attend and open to all ages.

At 1 p.m., the Furry Friends Fest kicks off at Two Doors Down in Maryville to benefit the Blount County Humane Society. Go check out some local bands and support some homeless animals. It's free to attend, but donations will be gladly accepted. 21+ only.

Wrap up your Sunday evening at the Preservation Pub with the Upstairs Underground Stand-Up Comedy Show at 8 p.m. There's no cover! 21+ only.
