The Weekend Plan-It: Diarrhea Planet, the Ying Yang Twins, and the Knoxville Tattoo Convention

Woo! We made it! It's the weekend! Here's what you could do for the next three days.

FRIDAY
At noon in the visitor center, MIchael Reno Harrell will play for WDVX's Blue Plate Special with Blair Crimmins. It's free to attend! Bring your lunch!

The Knoxville Tattoo Convention kicks off at 3 p.m. at the the Holiday Inn (World's Fair Park). Nearly 90 artists will be on hand at the three-day event, and they'll be doing some live tattooing while there. Go check out the artists' work, the vendors, and the "sideshows." A one-day ticket is $20, and it's $35 for the whole weekend. For more info, check out the event's website.

The Carpetbag Theatre will present Ashley Wilkerson's one-woman play "Freckle in my Eye," about a woman on death row in Texas. The show starts at 7 p.m. at My Place Performing Arts (on Hall of Fame Drive). Tickets are $15-$20. Buy them here

Sons of Hippies will play a free show at the Preservation Pub at 8 p.m. Check 'em out if you're in the neighborhood. 21+ only.

At 10 p.m., Nashville rockers Diarrhea Planet will take the stage at the Pilot Light with the So So Glos. Tickets are $10. 18+ only.

SATURDAY
The East Tennessee History Fair starts at 10 a.m. at the East Tennessee History Center. Learn a little more about the history of Knoxville with some tours of historic downtown, tours of the museum, kids' activities, and more. Take a look at the full schedule here.

The Preservation Pub's months-long Band Eat Band competition will culminate in a live seven-band showdown on Market Square starting at 4 p.m. Featured bands include Backup Planet, Baseball the Band, the Crumbsnatchers, Grandpa's Stash, the Jojax, King Super and the Excellents, and Vagabond Philosophy. It's free and open to everyone!

Atlanta hip-hop duo the Ying Yang Twins, along with DJ Eric B, will perform at NV Nightclub to help celebrate Hot 104.5's 10-year anniversary. Tickets are $10-$15. Buy them here. 18+ only. Hope you've practiced twerking! 

Echoes will play at the Pilot Light with See Monsters at 10 p.m. It's $5 to get in. 18+ only.

SUNDAY
At 2 p.m., catch a screening of the classic movie The Godfather Part II at the Tennessee Theatre. Tickets are $8. Buy them in advance here.

The Magdalene Players will give a dramatic reading of Judith Kaye Jones' play "The Women's Tale," about the women of the New Testament. The show gets started at 5 p.m. at the Church of the Good Samaritan. It's free to attend!

Wrap up the night at the Preservation Pub, where the Upstairs Underground Stand-Up Comedy show gets started at 8 p.m. It's free to attend! 21+ only.
