The Daily Plan-It: Story Time, Edward Hirsch, and Kishi Bashi

Good morning! Are we all here and accounted for? Good. Take a look at what's going on this Monday.

At 11 a.m., Smart Toys and Books will have story time for the kiddos, and some other activities to keep them busy for a while. For more info, call (865) 691-1154. It's free to attend!

At noon in the visitor center, The Buzz Band will play for WDVX's Blue Plate Special with Ellvee. As always, it's free to attend. Bring your lunch!

You'll have two chances to see author, John Simon Guggenheim Foundation president, and MacArthur fellow Edward Hirsch today at UT. He'll read from his new book of poems A Living Fire at both 3:30 this afternoon in the John D. Tickle Engineering Building (room 403) as part of UT's humanities lecture series, and later this evening at 7 p.m. in Hodges Library as part of the writers in the library series. Both events are free to attend.

At 5:30, wind down after work with some gentle yoga and meditation at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. Donations will be accepted. For more info, call (865) 577-2021 or email yogaway249@gmail.com.

Wrap up the night at the Pilot Light, where violinist Kishi Bashi (who's recorded with the likes of Regina Specktor, Sondra Lerche, and Of Montreal), will go on at 9 p.m. Fancy Colors will also play. Tickets are $10. Buy them here.
