We don't really know what's going through state Sen. Stacey Campfield's mind pretty much ever, but you would think after the recent fiasco where he invited people to a Nashville fundraiser at DeSano Pizza before actually confirming with the restaurant that it was ok to do so, he might have learned his lesson. Well, you would be wrong.
This morning we learned that Campfield has scheduled a fundraiser at Chick-fil-A, because of course. But when we spoke to Donna (who declined to give her last name), one of the managers of the Homberg Drive location, she had no idea what we were talking about.
"That's the first I've heard of it," Donna said. "Usually we don't do political fundraisers." Donna said the only thing in store for Thursday at that location is a high school event. She checked with several other people in the restaurant, and none of them knew anything about Campfield's planned event.
We didn't call Campfield for comment about this, because he's made a point of not returning our calls for almost a year now, and really, what is there to say? The man clearly doesn't care about normal protocol. But if the most anti-gay politician in the state gets kicked out of Chick-fil-A on Thursday for violating the store's protocol -- well, that would be something indeed.
