The Daily Pulse:

The Counselor vs. Bad Grandpa

We can't help noting an irony. Several publications, including the Wall Street Journal and the LA Times have unlikely comparisons between two extremely dissimilar movies, The Counselor and Bad Grandpa. One is the first screenwriting effort by a Pulitzer-winning novelist; the other the latest effort of the guy who reinvented the concept of Jackass.

They make the comparison based on box office, and the fact that the two shared an opening weekend. So far, they compare them without referencing the fact that Counselor's Cormac McCarthy and Grandpa's Johnny Knoxville are both former Knoxvillians. Moreover, they're both former South Knoxvillians.

And the weirdest irony of all is that Jackass is outpolling The Counselor among critics. At this writing, Rotten Tomatoes gives the Counselor 35 percent compared to Bad Grandpa's 62 (the latter score constitutes a recommendation).
