The Daily Pulse:

The Daily Plan-It: Vets' Day Parade, Gretchen Peters, and Pamela Schoenwaldt

Good morning and happy Veterans' Day! We thank all those who've served! (Check out this week's cover story on women veterans and their unique challenges in and out of the military.)

The American Legion 88th Veterans' Day Parade kicks off at 10:40 downtown. Come and get a spot along Gay Street and cheer on our veterans! It's free to attend.

Then, if you're sticking around for lunch, head over to the visitor center to catch Jake Lewis perform for WDVX's Blue Plate Special with the Clergy Harold Honey. It's free to attend!

This evening at 7, Nashville singer/songwriter Gretchen Peters will perform for WDVX's Tennessee Shines show with Jeff Black. TIckets are $10. You can buy them at the Blue Plate Special, or at the door, which opens at 6.

Also at 7, local novelist Pamela Schoenewaldt will be at UT's Hodges Library as part of the Writers in the Library series, and will read from her work. It's free to attend, and open to the public.

Wrap up the night at the Well for Comedy Con Queso open mic night. If you open a tab, you get free cheese (and plenty of laughs, too). No cover. 21+ only.
