Good morning and good tidings to you. It's the weekend before Christmas and all through the town, all the creatures were stirring, and making the rounds (to finish their Christmas shopping). And here's what's going on around town this weekend.
At 10 a.m., bundle up the munchkins and head over to Smart Toys and Books for parent/kid arts and crafts time for kiddos ages 2+. It's $5 to participate. For more info call (865) 691-1154.
At noon in the visitor center, Roger Alan Wade and Sparkle Motion will perform for WDVX's Blue Plate Special, along with Leah Gardner. As always, it's free to attend.
Longtime folk singer/songwriter Greg Brown will perform at the Bijou Theatre with R.B. Morris at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25-$29. Buy them here.
If you missed Roger Alan Wade at lunchtime, catch him at the Well at 9 p.m., where he'll play with Matt Woods and Dan Deel. Tickets to the show are $7-$10. Buy them here. 21+ only.
And wrap up the night at the Preservation Pub, where locals the Coveralls will play your favorite tunes (maybe). Cover's $5. 21+ only.
The Market Square Holiday Market gets started at noon. Even if shopping isn't up your alley, the food trucks will probably be there.
From 1:30 to 4 p.m., the McClung Museum will have a family fun day. Kids' activities related to the museum's exhibits will be involved. It's free to attend!
The Palace Theater Film Club will screen the 1954 classic Christmas flick "White Christmas" at the Palace Theater in Maryville at 7 p.m. It's $5 to go.
Hanna's in the Old City will have a retro dance night starting at 8 p.m. Top 40's and '80's hits will be involved. Cover's $5. 21+ only.
Nashville's Those Darlins, who have been on the brink of success since they debuted in 2008, will perform at the Pilot Light at 10 p.m. with Shy Boys. Tickets are $10. 18+ only.
Get your Christmas on starting at 2 p.m. with a showing of "A Christmas Carol" at the Clarence Brown Theatre. Tickets are $15-$30. Buy them here.
