The Daily Pulse:

Cormac McCarthy International Conference Goes Down Under

If you missed the last International Conference of the Cormac McCarthy Society when it was in Knoxville, don't despair. You'll have another chance this summer. Among the keynote speakers are McCarthy scholar Rick Wallach, who's been a familiar figure on Gay Street in recent years, and offbeat author/artist Peter Josyph, whose 2013 book, Cormac McCarthy's House, includes extensive discussions about the rich Knoxville setting of McCarthy's fourth novel, Suttree, with Prof. Wes Morgan, an unusual piece that grew out of a discussion at Pete's Cafe on Union. The conference, called "Cormac McCarthy: Borders and Landscapes," will be held around the time of the Knoxville-raised novelist's 81st birthday, July 23-25.

There's one catch. This year's festivities are at the Writing and Society Research Centre at the University of Western Sydney. That's in Australia, we think. Just take a right at Fiji. If you see Tasmania, you've gone too far.
