The Weekend Plan-It: Knox Vegas Lucky 13 Comedy Open Mic, the Royal Bangs, and Robinella

Good morning and welcome to winter. If you decide to brave the cold, there are plenty of things going on this weekend. Take a look.

FRIDAY
Smart Toys and Books will have a Mommy/Daddy and Me art class at 10 a.m. for kiddos ages 2+. It's $5 to participate. For more info call (865) 691-1154.

At noon in the visitor center, Leah Gardner will perform for WDVX's Blue Plate Special. Bring your lunch! It's free to attend.

Pipapelli will play a free show at the Preservation Pub at 8 p.m. 21+ only.

Sassy Ann's will host the Knox Vegas Lucky 13 Comedy Open Mic night tonight starting at 9. Can't get enough of local comics' jokes? Head over there. There's no cover. 21+ only.

East Tennessee reggae outfit the Natti Love Joys will play at Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria tonight at 10. 21+ only.

SATURDAY
The East Tennessee Wanderers Volkswalking Club will meet at the Quality Inn in Alcoa for a 5- or 10-kilometer walk. For more info, call (865) 742-6882 or check out the group's website. Bundle up!

At noon, catch Southern Cities play for WDVX's Blue Plate Special at the visitor center with the Mt. LeConte Jug Band. It's free to attend, as always.

Comedian Spanky Brown, the BET Comic View veteran, preacher's kid, and repeat casualty in the battle of the sexes, has a little something for everything in his stand-up routine. He'll be at Side Splitter's at 7:45 and 10:15 p.m. Tickets are $8-$15. Buy them here.

Local honky-tonk group the Drunk Uncles will play a free show at the Barley's in Maryville at 9 p.m. 21+ only.

Local rockers the Royal Bangs will play at Barley's (in Knoxville) at 10 p.m. with Johnny Astro and the Big Bang. It's $5 to get in. 21+ only.

SUNDAY
At 1:15 p.m., Circle Modern Dance will have an open house introduction to the dance classes they offer. Then start the new year off right with a free class at 2 p.m. in the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture's Annex Studio. 

The Tennessee Valley Exotic Bird Club will meet at Young-Williams Animal Center at 2 p.m. Birds are welcome! For more info call (865) 363-1715.

The Vegetarian Society of East Tennessee will have its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., which includes a class on the "plant-perfect diet," followed by a potluck dinner. It's $3 to attend. For more info, check out the group's website or call (865) 546-5643.

At Barley's in Maryville, hometown lady Robinella will perform at 7 p.m. It's free to attend!
