The Daily Plan-It: Tax Assistance, 'Trip to Bountiful' Discussion, and the Grassroots Gringos

Good morning! It's Monday. But here's what's going on around town today to keep you occupied.

Take an early lunch break and head over to the Amused Life Collective (221 E. Cumberland) for the Bellyjam class, a exercise routine based on belly dancing. It's $5 to participate. More info here.

From 4 to 7 p.m., IRS-certified volunteers will be at the Knox County CAC (2247 Western Ave) to help low- to moderate-income earners file their taxes for free. For more info, call (865) 546-3500 or check out the event's website.

Lots going on at Union Ave Books tonight around 6 p.m. Carol Mayo-Jenkins and David Alley will be on hand to talk about Clarence Brown Theatre's production of The Trip to Bountiful. Then Gerald Wood will talk about his book (Voice of an American Playwright) on the play's writer Horton Foote. It's free to attend! Fans of the play should not miss it!

This evening at 7, the Grassroots Gringos will perform for WDVX's Tennessee Shines show. Tickets to see the band play live in the visitor center are $10. Buy them at the Blue Plate Special earlier in the day, or at the door, which opens at 6 p.m.

Wrap up the night at the Well for Comedy Con Queso Open Mic Night. If you open a tab after 9 p.m., you get free cheese. Meanwhile, local comics will try to make you laugh. No cover! 21+ only.
