The Weekend Plan-It: J.C. and the Dirty Smokers, the Freight Hoppers, and 10 Years

Good morning! Hey, it's the weekend! If you don't already have plans, here are some ideas.

At noon in the visitor center, Rolling Nowhere will play for WDVX's Blue Plate Special with Pack of Wolves. As always, it's free to attend.

At 5:30, Stanley's Greenhouses and Plant Farm will have a benefit for the Ronald McDonald House. Wine and cheese will be involved. Tickets are $35. For more info call (865) 637-7475.

At 8 p.m., catch Chris Padgett, who'll play a free show at the Preservation Pub at 8 p.m. 21+ only.

Honky-tonk outfit J.C. and the Dirty Smokers will play at Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria at 10 p.m.--and they're planning to release an album called Live at Barley's. More info on show here. 21+ only.

Knoxville tropical-indie band Marina Orchestra will perform at the Pilot Light at 10 p.m. to celebrate the release of their new album Oceans. Cover's $5. 18+ only.

The winter farmer's market--that's the Nourish Knoxville market at the Southern Railway Station--goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get your local produce and food truck fix!

Husband-and-wife writers T Cooper and Allison Glock will be at Union Ave Books at 2 p.m. to celebrate the release of their new young-adult novel Changers, the first in a series of dystopian sci-fi tales to come. It's free to attend!

Grammy-nominated old-time music outfit the Freight Hoppers will perform at the Laurel Theater at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14. Buy them here.

Progressive bluegrass band Yonder Mountain String Brand will bring their unique tunes to the Tennessee Theatre at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. Buy them here.

Local boys 10 years will play an acoustic show at the Bijou Theatre with Trapper Schoepp at 9 p.m. Tickets are $17-$19. Buy them here

The Tennessee Health Care Campaign will be on hand at the Blount County Public Library at 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. to offer assistance to people to get enrolled in the health insurance marketplace. The help is free! For more info, call (865) 693-7809.

Legendary American pianist Andre Watts will perform at UT's Natalie L. Haslam Music Center at 4 p.m. To reserve tickets (which are free), call (865) 974-3241.

Robinella will perform at Barley's in Maryville at 7 p.m. Cover's $5.

Wrap up your night at the Well for a little music-and-comedy combination. Local indie-rock band Gamenight and Zach and Kota's Sweet Life will play, and then Brooklyn comedy group Awful DJ (which includes Knoxville native Josh Lay) will try to make you laugh. The show starts at 8 p.m. Cover's $5. 21+ only.
