Free Gardening Classes at Beardsley Farm Start TONIGHT!

Daylight Saving Time has kicked in, the weather is temporarily glorious -- do you really need an excuse to go outside after you're done with work? No, I thought not. But instead of going for a run or sitting outside on a patio with a beer like everyone else in town, why not learn how to get a garden started? Then you can sit outside on a patio later this summer with a Bloody Mary you made from homegrown tomatoes, and that's so much better.

Beardsley Farm is again offering its annual round of free community gardening classes, starting tonight. They run through May, and you can attend as many or as few as you wish, depending on the depth of your gardening knowledge. Bonus: you don't even have to take any gardening tools with you.

Here's the schedule:

FREE Spring Community Garden Classes
March 11th - May 10th
Weekly at CAC Beardsley Community Farm

CAC Beardsley Community Farm is happy to announce that we will be hosting FREE Community Garden classes starting TONIGHT at 5pm. These classes are free and are open to the public. They will be held once a week (with the exception of the first and last week) and will be from 5pm-6:30pm. You only need to bring yourself and the willingness to learn about organic gardening, sustainable agriculture and local food!
Tuesday, March 11th: Spring Planting - How to tend a garden in East Tennessee
Wednesday, March 12th: Spring Planting - How to tend a garden in East Tennessee (repeat of Tuesday's class)
Wednesday, March 19th: Mulching & Composting, Soil Types & Soil Tests
Thursday, March 27th: Companion Planting, Pests & Beneficials

Thursday, April 3rd: Weed Identification & Removal
Thursday, April 10th: Harvesting
Thursday, April 17th: Summer Planting & Fall Preservation
Thursday, April 24th: Know Your Tomato

Thursday, May 1st: Cooking Class
Saturday, May 10th: Composting***
Thursday, May 8th: Garden Trivia and Potluck
