The Daily Pulse:

Listen to Matt Honkonen's New Songs About Stone Brewing Co.

Matt Honkonen, formerly the drummer for Knoxville rock bands Tenderhooks and the Tim Lee 3 and now a solo singer/songwriter, has just released a couple of new songs on behalf of an effort to recruit Stone Brewing Company to Blount County.

Read Josh Flory on the recruiting campaign here, and listen to the songs here. Say what you want about the explicit commercial angle of the songs--"You can keep your Miller and your Bud, 'cause I've found the Stone," Honkonen sings on, yes, "A Stone in East Tennessee"--but Stone is a badass brewing company, one of the founders of the current American craft-brew renaissance and responsible for Arrogant Bastard, Ruination, and the excellent Stone Pale Ale. But they make a lot more beers than that--the Enjoy By IPA has been a sensation the last few years--and it would be awesome to have more of them available around here.
