The Daily Plan-It: Knoxville Writers' Group, Todd Purdum, and Ian Thomas and the Band of Drifters

Good morning and happy hump day. It's beautiful out today--make sure you get outside! Take a look at what's going on today.

The Knoxville Writers' Group will meet for lunch and discussion at Naples at 11 a.m. It's $12 to attend, which includes lunch. For more info call (865) 983-3740.

Todd Purdum, a contributing editor for Vanity Fair and a senior writer for Politico, will be at the Beck Cultural Center at noon to discuss his new book An Idea Whose Time Has Come: Two Presidents, Two Parties, and the Battle for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The event is part of Knoxville's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the act. It's free to attend!

At 6 p.m., Circle Modern Dance will have an intermediate technique class at the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture. It's $5 to attend. More info here.

Tonight at 9, head over to the Well and check out Michele and the Wide Open Road, who'll perform with Misery and Gin. No cover tonight! 21+ only.

Wrap up the night at the Preservation Pub, where Ian Thomas the Band of Drifters will play at 10 p.m. Cover's $3. 21+ only.
