Last Surviving Civil War Pensioner?!

A slightly unbelievable Wall Street Journal story details the story of America's only surviving beneficiary of veterans' benefits from the Civil War, an 84-year-old woman in Western North Carolina--whose father, Mose Triplett, a Confederate deserter, made his way to Knoxville in 1864 to join the Union army. He was a soldier for only a few months, and his daughter Irene was born 65 years after the war ended, but she still draws a modest monthly paycheck from the U.S. government.
