The Weekend Plan-It: The Love Language, Portugal. The Man, and Yung Life

Good morning! And congratulations on making it through the work week (almost). We have some ideas for how to stay busy this weekend. Take a look.

FRIDAY
At noon in the visitor center, catch the Yanks as they perform for WDVX's Blue Plate Special with Duane Cliatt. As always, it's free to attend.

This evening at 6:30, the Smoky Mountain Scottish Festival and Games kicks off at Maryville College. Tickets are $10-$100. More info here.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Masterworks series continues at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre, where they'll perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. Tickets are $15-$85. Buy them here.

 The Midnight Voyage this week features EDM producers Kayla Scintilla and Kaminanda, along with Sub Sqwad, and Saint Thomas LeDoux, Tickets are $10-$15. Buy them here. 18+ only.

North Carolina indie pop outfit the Love Language will perform at the Pilot Light at 10 p.m. with Coolrunnings and Crowd. It's $6 to get in. 18+ only.

SATURDAY
The International Biscuit Festival kicks off at 9 a.m. on Market Square. Go taste some biscuits on Biscuit Boulevard, and then check out the rest of the festival's events here.

Round up your kiddos and head to World's Fair Park for the Children's Festival of Reading. There will be games, crafts, activities, and music geared toward kids, so go crazy. It's free to attend. More info here.

Alaskan psych-pop outfit Portugal. The Man will perform at the Bijou Theatre in support of their 2013 album Evil Friends. Quiet Life will also perform. The show starts at 8, and tickets are $25. Buy them here.

The Marble City Opera will perform a contemporary American opera at the Emporium Center's Black Box. They'll have showings at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $15. Buy them here.

Wrap up the night at Scruffy City Hall, where the Vibraslaps will perform at 10 p.m. 21+ only.

SUNDAY
Circle Modern Dance will have am open-leve ballet barre class at 1 p.m. It's $5 to participate. More info here.

The East Tennessee Wanderers Volkswalking Club will meet at 2 p.m. for a walk through Greenback (East Lakeshore Trail). It's free to attend. More info here.

Local modern mountain music-ers the LoneTones will perform at Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria at 8 p.m. No cover! Everyone's welcome!

Wrap up the night at the Pilot Light where Yung Life will play its fuzzy synth-pop at 10 p.m. with Body of Light and Meth Dad. It's $5 to get in. 18+ only.
