The Weekend Plan-It: Dylan's Birthday Concert, Knoxville Gay Men's Chorus, and the Knoxville Film and Music Festival

Good morning! It's the weekend! In a few hours, at least. And there's plenty going on between now and Sunday. Take a look!

The Blount County Public Library's Tales of Wonder story hour gets started at 10:30 this morning, and will feature puppets, coloring, and crafts for kiddos ages 3-5 years old. It's free to attend!

At noon in the visitor center, Battlefield Collective will perform for WDVX's Blue Plate Special, along with the Black Feathers. It's free to attend!

Local bands (including the Lonetones, the Detroit Daddies, Y'uns, Norwegian Wood, Daniel Kimbro, and the Red Clay Ramblers' Mike Craver and Nancy Brennan Strange) will celebrate Bob Dylan's birthday on Market Square at 5 p.m. It's free to attend!

Meanwhile at 5:30, check out "Dark Matter and the Branes," a two-person art show from husband-wife duo Seva and Subagh (and subtitled "an immersive alien invasion with art to sell"). It'll be on display at the Center for Creative Minds at 23 Emory Place.

Psychobilly tall tale-teller Unknown Hinson will perform at Scruffy City Hall at 10 p.m. 21+ only.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency will sponsor a free fishing day at Concord Park from 8 a.m. until noon. 

The second annual Steampunk Carnivale kicks off at noon at Paulk and Co. (510 Williams St). It's $10 to attend. More info here.

Knoxville metalcore band Whitechapel will perform at the International at 5 p.m., along with Devil Driver. Tickets are $20. Buy them here.

Celebrate pride month with a performance at the Bijou Theatre from the Knoxville Gay Men's Chorus at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $22. Buy them here.

Festival-friendly electronic jam band Dopapod will perform at the Concourse (the former Cider House) at 9 p.m. with Mobility Chief. Tickets are $10-$12. Buy them here.

After brunch, head over to the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture for a ballet barre class at 1 p.m. from Circle Modern Dance. All levels of experience are welcome. First class is free, and then $5 for each class. More info here.

The Knoxville Game Design meet-up will take place at the Technology Cooperative (130 W. Jackson) at 2 p.m. All levels of game designers are welcome and encouraged to come! More info here.

Check out the Knoxville Film and Music Festival, which will screen some movies at Scruffy City Hall starting at 5 p.m. Tickets start at $25. More info here.
